YouTube for the WIN
I was the most excited when it came to doing this project in specific because this is the type of material that I will actually be using in the classroom. Whether or not it is actually presenting videos to my students. It is definitely teaching them the important materials that they’ll need. Having the accessibility recording on your screen can do a lot for students who may be on leave for whatever reason or just have these extra YouTube videos for when they go home and may not understand what was taught in class. I think being able to record your lessons is more than a virtual classroom. It’s also source in tools for students to have after they’ve left school.
From personal experience, I know that sometimes I couldn’t always understand what my teacher was saying while I was in class in a classroom setting. Some students work better in a different environment, such as their own house and a desk over there, or maybe watching YouTube videos, and having the advantage of pausing and thinking about it. That’s why I enjoy making these YouTube videos and probably will continue to make videos for my students. It’s not a big deal. It doesn’t take long and I think in the long run it’s about my students being comfortable enough to ask for help. And those students who don’t feel very comfortable asking for help. This is an opportunity for them to use resources and not make them feel belittled for not understanding right away.
Everyone is a different learner and not everyone is going to understand
the first time so making these YouTube videos allows the students to pause rewind, pause write down notes whatever the case may be, having these YouTube videos of a virtual classroom is only going to benefit your students.
A like the idea of the virtual classroom as well for those days that I might be out. Having YouTube videos allows me to still teach my students and be ahead of the game so that my substitute doesn’t have to come in and possibly confuse my students. If my substitute is able to come in and help them in a way that I was unable to that’s amazing and I’ll want that. But I don’t want my substitute to come in and confuse my students even more or teach my student something that we haven’t covered yet.
Having YouTube videos is only beneficial like I said not just for the students but also for myself so they were all on the same page and so that all of the material is getting covered and should a student not understand you can go back on your own time.
