For the last time..

Over the last two weeks of learning about technology, I have learned more in this class than I have in many other technology classes. Not that I’ve taken a bunch, but I like how I can leave this class and I have learned a lot of different resources and tools and fun assignments. This class allowed me to learn tools and take them into my future classroom. It was a lot of work and at times it was a lot of hard work that took a while to complete, but I think it was worth it at the end of the day because I am leaving with a lot of knowledge.  A wrap-up of the whole class is easier said than done. I feel like this was a really important class for me to take because I am a very hands-on learner, and although this class is asynchronous, I was able to have hands-on learning. Which is something that I missed since the pandemic and since leaving traditional school. So I enjoyed all the assignments. I enjoyed learning that I can make a blog for myself, and it’s not too hard to cr...

YouTube for the WIN

Image
I was the most excited when it came to doing this project in specific because this is the type of material that I will actually be using in the classroom. Whether or not it is actually presenting videos to my students. It is definitely teaching them the important materials that they’ll need. Having the accessibility recording on your screen can do a lot for students who may be on leave for whatever reason or just have these extra YouTube videos for when they go home and may not understand what was taught in class. I think being able to record your lessons is more than a virtual classroom. It’s also source in tools for students to have after they’ve left school. From personal experience, I know that sometimes I couldn’t always understand what my teacher was saying while I was in class in a classroom setting. Some students work better in a different environment, such as their own house and a desk over there, or maybe watching YouTube videos, and having the advantage of pausing and ...

Week 6- Google Earth

Image
Welcome back to my post. I really appreciate you guys being here.  This week we had to create a trip using Google Maps, which I didn’t even realize you could do. But I actually learned a lot and I feel like this is something that I might actually use in the future seeing as how it was pretty easy and it was rather organized. My trip was a trip to Seattle, Washington. Taking about four days to get there from the University of La Verne with stops along the way and tourist attractions that we can visit. I said that it is a trip that we can all take together so we can take our time, but also get to our destination. I really like road trips because if they aren’t too structured, but if you have enough places to go, it could be really fun because you are letting the wind blow you in whatever direction it leads you. So on my trip, I left a lot of room for originality for other people's input, but also an opportunity to have room to do other things. Because in my opinion, that’s wha...

week 4- tech and story telling

Image
This was how I felt being on my laptop the entire time. LOL.  I think this week wasn't too bad since I have done many, many, MANY power points in my school life. This one I got to pick the topic, and as a Disney adult, it only seemed appropriate. If you guys could not tell, I love to cruise with Disney more than go to the different parks. Don't get me wrong, I will be going back to Flordia soon, and I'll forever have my Disneyland pass, but for a vacation that is all about relaxing, Disney Cruise for the WIN!  As for my PB&J, how do you guys think I did? I think I got all the steps down. I only had trouble with the pictures because they would not be clear! I tried different ones, I tried this, I tried that, it was so annoying. So, long story short, you guys get the point haha. Was I the only one with thr bad pictures? I mean I have to go back and add comments so I can only hope I was not.  Well, I hope you guys are well. Thanks for reading.

Week 2

I did not know how bad I was at technology until I started this class. I always thought I was okay, and knew the basics.   My grandparents would come to me for almost all of their technology problems, and I have always been able to help them. If I was ever confused, a quick Google search or a YouTube video has always been able to help me. This time? Yeah, no.   Trying to screen-record my Mac took me about two days to figure out. My biggest problem was the fact that the built-in screencast thing for Mac was not working for me. Every tutorial I tried to look up, kept telling me how a screen would pop up but no screen ever popped up. So here I am shutting down my entire laptop and rebooting the whole thing thinking something wrong with my laptop. Eventually, I just decided to use one of the links the Professor had provided for us. It’s extremely frustrating because I have created many screencast tutorials on my Mac with this other software and now it just decided that it doe...

About Amanda

Image
Hello! I'm Amanda!  Nice to meet you all! As you can see I'm a Disney Adult. This is me (and my boyfriend who is not looking) on the Disney Wonder Cruise this past January. If you have never been, I HIGHLY recommend it.   Well, I started ULV in Fall 2. I was originally at CSUSB but transferred. So far so good. I am an education major and I love it. Working with kids is what I was meant to do. It's testing me daily, but at the end of the day, I love my students. I work with kids as my full-time job. They're very exhausting. School is just as exhausting, but I just know at the end of the day when I graduate and have my own classroom it will all be worth it. I like to see the cup half full. So, with every assignment and every cry session, I like to remind myself I'm closer today than ever.  Thanks for taking the time to read! Have a great day and I'm wishing you the BEST of luck!
